George Michael Saba

February 10, 1954 — March 15, 2026

Saint Paul, MN

George Michael Saba, age 72, passed away on March 15th in Saint Paul, Minnesota.

George was outgoing, engaging, and complicated. He had a big personality and an easy way with people, and could strike up a conversation just about anywhere with anyone, leaving an impression that lasted long after the conversation had ended.

He was born on February 10, 1954 to Phil and Ethel (Duffy) Saba and was one of twelve siblings, raised in a large family that shaped his early years. From an early age, George had a strong independent streak and wasn’t always one to follow the rules. He was loyal when it mattered, especially with family and friends who remember him stepping in to defend a younger brother who was treated unfairly at school.

George loved games of chance—pull tabs, blackjack, craps—anything that carried a little risk and excitement. He appreciated fine cars and the feeling of the open road, from a decked-out Jeep in his younger years to the town cars he enjoyed driving when times were better, especially if the volume on the radio was turned all the way up.

He served in the U.S. Army and spent time in Germany, an experience that marked an important chapter in his life. He also sold insurance and held numerous other jobs throughout his life.

George’s life included challenges that at times made it difficult for him to stay connected to the people he loved. Even so, those who knew him understood that his love for his family was always there, even when he was not able to show it. He will be remembered for his presence, the stories he told and the way he connected with people. He leaves behind memories that are in equal measure joyful and difficult, and he will not be forgotten.

He is survived by five children, Greg, Brittany, Keith, Nicole, and Billy; grandchildren, Jordan, Amari, Meadow, and Julianna; siblings, Barb, Nancy, Maryann, Mike, and Mark; and many extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Phil and Ethel (Duffy) Saba; and siblings Ida Mae, Butch (Phillip), David, Joe, Brian, and Keith.

A celebration of life will be held at 12:00 PM Sunday, April 19 at the Blaine VFW, located at 1374 109th Ave in Blaine. Lunch will follow at 1:00 PM following the service.
