Margaret Irene Brown

Margaret Marge Brown was born Sept 1, 1918 in Jasper, Iowa, and died peacefully on January 20, 2016 in St Paul, MN. Preceded in death by parents Roy and Estella Cooper, brothers Gene and Alfred, sisters Nadine Peter McCormick and Jeanette Byron Baker; husband Fred Hammer and son David, and husband Robert Brown and stepsons Darrell and Dan. Marge is survived by stepson Bob Brown and stepdaughter Judy Windland Lewis, granddaughter Lynn Canfield Jesse Brown and great granddaughter Xanthe, as well as many step grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She will be deeply missed by all who loved her. An avid gardener and an accomplished artist, Marge was appreciated for her sharp mind and no-nonsense style. After retiring from Northern Ordinance now BAE Systems, Marge enjoyed many visits to Hawaii with her son David and road trips with her brother Al Cooper. She had a deep affection for dogs and was a loyal caregiver over the years for Buddy, Max and BennieMarge especially loved Smokey, her companion for seventeen years. A celebration of Marge's life will be held in the spring with details forthcoming.
