Miriam "Mimzy" L. Blalock

Miriam Lorene Blalock, 78 of Maple Grove, MN , passed away peacefully on July 23, 2023 after battling cancer for a decade.

Miriam Kuhn was born on September 30th, 1944, the only child of Richard and Mary Kuhn of Bexley, OH, near Columbus. She graduated from Bexley High School in 1962. Miriam, graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with a Bachelor’s degree in Missions and a Master’s Degree in Christian Education, and graduated from the school of nursing at Ohio State University in 1973.

In 1971 Miriam met Larry Blalock while working in service positions at Calvary Bible Church and attending Ohio State. Miriam and Larry were married November 16, 1974. Miriam and Larry went on to settle down in Maple Grove where Larry pastored a church. They have two sons, Brent, born in 1978, and Chad, born in 1983.

Miriam lived for helping others. She worked as a psychiatric nurse at United Hospital in St. Paul, served her community in Christ at her church, The Grove, and traveled the world on multiple mission trips. She was affectionately known as Mimzy. She retired from nursing in 2010 and filled her remaining years with adventures and travels with her husband, family and humanitarian groups.

Miriam is survived by her loving husband Larry, their sons Brent (Carolyn Shade) Blalock of Maple Grove and Chad (Andrea) Blalock of White Bear Lake, MN, her grandchildren Logan, Martin and Freyja, along with her beloved family in Colorado and countless friends whom she considered family residing all over the world.

A Celebration of Life will be held at The Grove Church, 8585 Rice Lake Road in Maple Grove, MN on August 19th at 11 a.m. with a luncheon and reception at 12:30. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Miriam’s memory to Orphan’s Promise , ZOE International: End Human Trafficking , or Restored Hope Ministries
