Peter Gerard Hawn, celebrated for his quiet contemplation and deep love for solitude, peacefully passed away at his home on July 26, 2024. Born on January 26, 1962, to the late Thomas R. Hawn and Marilyn M. Olsen Hawn, Peter's life was characterized by introspection and a strong sense of independence.
Peter embraced a less conventional path, finding solace in solitary pursuits and the wonders of nature. His profound love for literature, art, and the serene beauty of the natural world defined his existence. Those fortunate enough to have known Peter recognized his gentle heart, contemplative nature, love for animals and the warmth of his humor, which often intertwined with his keen intelligence to bring unexpected joy.
He is survived by his siblings: Pamela Traun, Rebecca Hawn, Kathleen Hawn, Elizabeth Steber, Theresa Kantner, Charles Hawn, and Thomas Hawn. He was preceded in death by his brother, James Hawn.
Additionally, Peter is survived by his special friend, Joan Walton, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family members who held him close to their hearts.
Peter's family will honor his life by commemorating his passion for literature and learning. In lieu of flowers or memorials, donations to the Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy are graciously welcomed, reflecting Peter's enduring love for knowledge and education
