Richard "Dick" Hausker of Coon Rapids passed away at age 85 on June 11, 2026.
Preceded in death by his parents, Chester and Evelyn Hausker.
Dick was a devoted, God-fearing man whose life reflected humility, kindness and steady faith. He was a numbers guy which made accounting a natural fit for him. He used that gift generously, volunteering as a money counter for Sunday offerings; treasurer of his church, of a local chapter of Evangelism Explosion and even of Sondra’s reunion committee. He also volunteered as a Bible camp counselor, activities leader and manager. Though his memory was fading he still knew his multiplication tables, which amazed everyone.
He loved to play softball in his younger years, and enjoyed games and cards, golf, bike, bocce ball, pool, horseshoes, and spending time with family and friends. Whether gliding along a trail on rollerblades or reading his favorite western or mystery novel, he approached life with vigor and joy. Traveling to Carefree Country Club in Winter Haven, Florida for eleven winters after retirement brought him great happiness.
Dick was a kind, humble and gentle man to the end, even with Alzheimer’s. Everyone loved him. As the disease progressed and took away his ability to walk, he accepted each change with grace, including moving into a care facility. His dry humor remained, bringing laughter to those around him. He always had a smile.
His faith shaped his character and gave him strength in every season of life. He was a believer in the Lord Jesus Christ which gave him the assurance of eternal life with the Lord. He shared that belief with some of you, hoping you would ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior (John 3:16) and meet him in heaven someday.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend. He enjoyed spending time with all of you. Dick also opened his heart and home to two exchange student daughters - Laura from Uruguay and Ximena from Chile, who remain cherished members of the family.
He is survived by his beloved wife of nearly 63 years, Sondra; brother, Chuck Hausker (Char); children, Renae (Mike) Mitling, Lonnie (Michael) Yohannes, Greg (Karri) Hausker; proud grandfather to Samantha and Rachel Mitling, Kathryn Veil, Grace Hausker Thalmann, Amelia Mueller, and Koby Hausker; and great-grandfather to Asher, Caleb, and Elizabeth. Family was the heartbeat of his life, and embraced every branch of the family tree with open arms. He also leaves behind many extended family members, each of whom held a special place in his heart.
A private celebration of life will be held for immediate family only.
