Steven Clarence Erickson

Mr. Steven Clarence Erickson of Minneapolis, MN and Laughlin, NV (formerly of Washoe, NV), passed away peacefully on July 8, 2019, at the age of 74. Steve was born to parents, Clarence and Anita on August 30, 1944, in Douglas, AZ. He grew up as the eldest of six in Clear Lake, WI. In 1962, after graduating high school, he joined the U.S. Navy and was a member of the Construction Battalion or SeaBee. In 1967, he married Linda Kay Olson. He joined the Minneapolis Police Department in 1968 and served for 30 years, retiring as a sergeant. Steve and Linda moved to Washoe, NV, after retirement where he continued to work part time. They enjoyed several cruises together and Steve was never far from a Legion or VFW post. He adored John Wayne films and was an avid reader, never missing a daily newspaper. Steve is survived by his wife, Linda; son, Tom; daughter, Amanda; grandson, Foster; siblings, Daniel, Lee, Severin and Louise. He is preceded in death by his parents and youngest brother, Byron. A celebration of life will be held at Columbia Manor, 3300 Central Avenue in Minneapolis, MN on July 21, 2019 from 12-3pm with an Honor Guard procession at 12:30pm. Steve's cremated remains will be held by his family and partially scattered in places that were important to him. A stone marker will be placed in the West Akers Lutheran Church Cemetery in Prairie Farm, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made in Steve's memory to the Friends Of The River Fund, a non profit agency that provides emergency assistance to those in crisis in the AZ/NV/CA area.
