In Loving Memory of Vernon (Vern) Lee Patrin

Vernon Patrin, beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 20, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born on February 5, 1939, to Evelyn (Tuttle) and Arthur Patrin, Vern grew up in Barron, Wisconsin, surrounded by a loving family that instilled in him a strong work ethic and deep appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. Vern married the love of his life, Janet, on July 6, 1957. Together, they had four beautiful children.

Vern proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1957 to 1960, a time he often recalled with pride and honor.

Following his military service, Vern built a long and respected career beginning at the City of Roseville, and then transitioning to the St. Paul Water Department. Eventually, he became the owner and operator of the landfill in Cumberland, Wisconsin, where his dedication and hard work left a lasting mark on the community.

Vern retired early to enjoy what he loved most—traveling the country with his beloved wife, Janet. Together they shared countless adventures, creating memories that filled their hearts and enriched the lives of those around them. Whether singing karaoke, spending peaceful days on Big Marine Lake, or simply enjoying time with family, Vern lived life with adventure.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Evelyn; his siblings Bob Patrin, Duane Patrin, and Violet Erickson; and his son Roger Patrin. He is survived by, his loving wife Janet; his sister, June Jarocki; his children Stan (Jan) Patrin, Pam (Dave) Benner, and Steve (Carolyn) Patrin; as well as 11 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, and other cherished family members and friends who will miss his humor, warmth, and stories.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at one o’clock at the American Legion in Forest Lake, MN., where family and friends are welcome to share memories and honor the life of a remarkable man who left a lasting legacy.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the St. Croix Hospice - Hospice Support Foundation in memory of Vern.
